Perched on a hill, with panoramic views of Phoenix and the surrounding mountains, is Wrigley Mansion – a romantic estate built in 1932, blending Spanish and Mediterranean style architecture. It’s a one of a kind spot, and if you’re looking for the right place to pop the question in Phoenix, a Wrigley Mansion proposal might be the perfect spot to kick off your engagement. It’s a stunning spot for proposals, engagement photos, and more, so this guide covers everything you need to know to plan a proposal at Wrigley Mansion – including logistics, tips for keeping it a surprise, and more!

What Makes Wrigley Mansion a Special Place to Propose?

Wrigley Mansion was originally built as a 50th anniversary gift from William Wrigley Jr. (as in Wrigley’s chewing gum!) to his wife Ada – so it’s quite literally been a love story from the beginning. The estate sits on a private knoll in the Biltmore neighborhood in Phoenix, and the original tilework, arched doorways, and warm terracotta details give it an incredible old-world charm. It combines elegance and cozy intimacy, with sweeping views of the city and the mountains as well as spaces that feel personal.

Booking Your Proposal at Wrigley Mansion

Here’s what you need to know about proposals at Wrigley Mansion!

The Proposal Package

Wrigley Mansion offers a proposal-specific package, with everything you need to pop the question. You get up to two hours in a private location, with the space reserved exclusively for you. They’ll also provide two dozen red roses, rose petal decor, and Wrigley Cava along with etched flutes. As an added bonus, you get a one year social membership – the mansion operates as a club, so this membership gives you priority reservations, and invites to exclusive events.

It’s really the complete package – the scene is set when you get there, and you can focus on the moment. You can customize anything, like inviting family for the proposal, celebrating with a dinner, and more!

The Best Time to Propose at Wrigley Mansion

Wrigley Mansion is available for proposals year round! But you’ll definitely want to start planning early, as it’s a popular place to pop the question. Phoenix summers can get intense, so October through April is usually the sweet spot. But, sunset is the best time for a Wrigley Mansion proposal, since you’ll get that stunning golden light as the sun sets behind the mountains. Phoenix doesn’t have much of a “winter,” but December through February can definitely get chilly in the evenings. Spring and fall are pretty comfortable all day, and summer sunsets can be great for outdoor proposals! Sunsets and weekends require the most planning ahead, since these will be very popular times to pop the question. If you’re flexible, planning your proposal for a weekday can help ensure that you can get the reservation, and also that the property will be less busy overall.

Choosing Your Proposal Spot

There are a few options at Wrigley Mansion for your proposal. You can take a tour of the property to find the perfect spot – so if you’re able to, this is definitely recommended so that you can choose your location, and get a feel for the space so that you’re ready on the big day.

There’s the Garden Terrace, which is more cozy and enclosed, with lots of greenery. It feels more tucked away and romantic, while Geordie’s Terrace is wide open, with sweeping city views, mountain vistas, and a gorgeous tiled staircase. Both terraces are especially gorgeous at sunset, offering slightly different experiences.

What to Do After Your Wrigley Mansion Proposal

Once you’ve popped the question and gotten the yes, you have dining options built in! Geordie’s and Christopher’s are the two restaurants on site, and there’s also Jamie’s wine bar. Whether you want a table for two, or to celebrate with family and friends, you can arrange a celebratory dinner alongside your proposal package.

Engagement Photos at Wrigley Mansion

While getting photos of the two of you after the proposal is a great idea, you can also come back to Wrigley Mansion for an engagement session – when both of you are prepared for a photoshoot. Doing both your proposal and engagement session here can be special, because you already know the location is beautiful, and after the proposal, you’ll already have a connection to the spot.

For engagement sessions, Wrigley Mansion offers photoshoots on Tuesday through Saturday, from 10 am to 8 pm. You’ll have access to the entire property (except for spaces that have been reserved for events), and if you want more privacy for your engagement photos, you can also do a session outside of the standard hours when Wrigley Mansion is closed, for an additional fee.

Just like with proposals, sunset is magical for photos – so make sure to plan in advance!

Hiring a Photographer for Your Wrigley Mansion Proposal

Just as important as the proposal, is hiring a photographer. You’re going to want to document this moment – along with being an important memory and milestone, sometimes because of the nerves and anticipation, the moment goes by so fast! You might miss the look on your partner’s face as you pop the question, and photos are the only way to really relive it all.

Keeping the proposal a surprise is totally doable, even with a photographer! Since the mansion has multiple restaurants on site, telling your partner that you’ve planned a dinner date is the easiest way to pull it off. It gives you both a great reason to dress up, and you can take a detour to check out the view from the terrace before dinner.

Coordinate with your photographer to make sure you’re on the same page about exactly where and when you’re proposing, and they can stay out of sight.
